Rural Landowner Workshop in Mitchell

Rural landowners are invited to learn about conservation projects and available grants.

The annual Rural Landowner Workshop is headed to Mitchell on March 23rd from 7 pm - 9 pm at Crystal Palace.

Landowners in the catchment area of the Ausable Bayfield, Maitland, and Upper Thames River Conservation Authorities are invited to learn about conservation projects such as:

  • tree plantings including buffer strips, windbreaks, and highly erodible land retirement,
  • wetland construction,
  • prairie planting, and
  • agricultural Best Management Practices (e.g., cover crops, erosion control structures, etc.)

Conservation Authority experts will discuss how they can help with the planning and design of these projects, as well as access grants to reduce costs by up to 70%.

We're thrilled to welcome two guest speakers:

  • Rick Kootstra - Huron County Soil and Crop Improvement Association
  • Mel Luymes - Perth Stewardship Program
