The London Environmental Network is thrilled to launch its first-ever environmental program for youth, EcoLeaders! We know that youth are the decision-makers of the future and have strong ideas about how to address climate change. Yet, many teens and young adults often feel disconnected from the environmental events and volunteer opportunities happening in our city.
The EcoLeaders program connects youth (ages 12-24) to events and volunteer opportunities in the environmental sector. Engaging youth in climate action is an essential part of making London a greener, more resilient city for everyone.

What is EcoLeaders?
EcoLeaders is a free, youth-focused environmental program run by the London Environmental Network. Throughout the school year, we will connect EcoLeader participants to skill-building activities including:
- Access to monthly environmental events and volunteer opportunities
- Volunteer information sessions to learn about current volunteer roles (held online and recorded)
- Check-ins with our team to ask your questions about environmental opportunities (held online)
- Access to climate action organizing initiatives, like climate strikes and marches
- Connections to our network of 40+ member organizations
- A full-day environmental forum, featuring workshops and activities led by local experts
- Tours of environmental workplaces throughout the year
At the end of the school year, students that have completed 4 EcoLeaders activities will receive a customized certificate to verify they've completed the program. This is also a GREAT way to get your required high school community volunteer hours!
Who is eligible to participate in EcoLeaders?
Our eligibility requirements are:
- Must be between the ages of 12 to 24
- Must reside in London, Ontario, Canada
Every eligible youth is welcome to sign up, regardless of environmental knowledge, experience, or ability. EcoLeaders is for everyone!
Is EcoLeaders free?
Yes, it is completely free!
How can I sign up?
To complete the form, you will need to provide us with your first and last name, email, phone number, and emergency contact. If you are under the age of 18, you will need your parent/guardian's first and last name and email.
There are also optional questions so we can learn more about what environmental topics you are interested in and if you have any accessibility accommodations so that we can tailor the program to you!
Can I sign up anytime?
Participants can sign up anytime between September 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023. To get the most out of the program, we recommend you sign up earlier in the school year! Please note that in order to receive your EcoLeaders certificate of completion, you will need to attend at least 4 activities administered through the program by June 30, 2023.
What happens after I sign up?
After signing up through our registration form, we will email you a monthly EcoLeaders e-newsletter that includes upcoming events and volunteer opportunities, plus exclusive events happening just for EcoLeaders participants. We will provide you with all the information you need to attend these opportunities according to your preference and schedule!
How long does EcoLeaders run for?
The EcoLeaders program is running from September 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.
