Growing Chefs! Ontario is seeking individuals to join our Board of Directors who have previous leadership and governance experience, skills in fund development, financial management, communications, and social entrepreneurship who are eager to be a part of a dynamic and hard working organization. We are specifically seeking individuals who are interested in taking on a leadership role on the Board and working towards the Board Chair position.
The Growing Chefs! Ontario board is a governance board, who works closely with the Executive Director, providing policy and direction to the organization and furthering the organization’s mission to change the way children and families learn about and develop healthy relationships with food.

Board members are expected to attend and actively participate in board meetings. In addition, Board members are expected to actively work to progress the strategic priorities of the organization and serve on at least one board committee. The Board Chair position specifically is responsible for meeting with the Executive Director between board meetings and facilitating communication between staff, committees and the Board as a whole. The ideal person will be able to devote some time to Growing Chefs! Ontario weekly. The expected time commitment is approximately 3 – 6 hrs a month with some months being heavier and others being lighter.
The Board meets on the last Monday of each month for approximately 1.5 – 2 hours. Successful candidates will be expected to be able to devote an additional 1 – 3 hours per month to Growing Chefs! Ontario with some months requiring a heavier commitment than others.
Growing Chefs! Ontario has an established Board Member onboarding process where you will have the opportunity to work with other Board Members, the Executive Director, and staff to transition into the role and learn more about our programming.
