Nicole Karsch - Greener Homes London Manager

Nicole will be talking about LEN's tools to help with retrofitting, including the Sustainability Guide and the Energuide booking process.

About Nicole:

  • Honors Bachelors Degree in Social Justice and Peace Studies
  • Masters in Environment and Sustainability
  • Vice-Chair of City of Sarnia's Environmental Committee

My main interest surrounds environmental injustice and the relationship between limitless economic growth and environmental devastation.

When it comes to sustainability, I strongly believe that there needs to be more investment in clean energy infrastructure, financial aid available that is both adequate and more easily accessible in order to lessen the financial burden that often comes with sustainable upgrades, retrofits or clean technologies (electric vehicles) and meaningful expansion and inclusion of traditionally left out groups such as low-income households, households of colour, as well as renters in residential sustainability discussions.

My Social Justice and Environmental Sustainability background has really driven me to work towards offering GHL services, resources and tools that consider energy equity and actively tries to incorporate traditionally marginalized groups and/or communities.

What I do at LEN:

  • I manage LEN's residential sustainability program.

Two major aspects of my job include building our home energy assessment offerings and managing a project called the Nonprofit Resiliency Project which will work with nonprofit organizations to increase the sustainability of their buildings.
