September 19th - Retrofit 101: What is a sustainable retrofit and how can one be net-zero ready?
5:30-6:30pm
Presentation:
Net Zero 101 (45min + Q&A) Since 2014 CHBA has developed and implemented a voluntary home labelling program for Net Zero Energy and Net Zero Energy Ready housing. But what does this mean? This presentation will give an overview of the Net Zero Home Labelling Program and work that is being done on New and Existing Homes as well as Multi-Unit Residential Buildings. What does it take to have a home that produces as much energy as it consumes? What is the process and who do I even talk to? Most of all, this presentation hopes to present options to improve where we live, for now and into the future.

Lynne J Strickland: Director, Initiatives, Net Zero Energy Housing, Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA)
Lynne joined the CHBA Net Zero team earlier this year with a multi-disciplinary background in the built environment, from indoor environmental quality to design and construction. Lynne works on initiatives that strive for scalable Net Zero solutions such as the NRCan funded national applied RD&D project “Towards cost-effective net-zero energy ready residential renovations”. Prior to joining CHBA, she worked as a Senior Construction Project Manager on Parliament Hill with the Centre Block Rehabilitation Program overseeing Heritage removals, BIM recording of the building and Designated Substance abatement. Lynne also spent four years in the residential sector as Project Manager with a Design/Build and Renovation company, and many years as an Indoor Environmental Scientist, specializing in Indoor Air Quality. As a Registered Interior Designer, LEED AP, WELL AP, and PMP, Lynne’s focus is on integrating the best of all aspects of known capabilities and innovative solutions to advance both scalability and impact. Based outside of Ottawa in farm country, Lynne enjoys human powered adventures by bike, hike, kayak or canoe and is hoping to add a retrofitted off-grid-capable caravan to support more remote explorations.
