What is a Rain Garden?

A rain garden is a shallow, planted garden designed to capture and absorb rainwater from roofs, driveways, and other hard surfaces. Instead of rushing into storm drains, water soaks slowly into the soil, reducing flooding, filtering out pollutants, and protecting our watershed.

Rain Gardens:

  • Reduces pooling water and runoff

  • Protects foundations and nearby infrastructure

  • Filters pollutants before they reach our local watershed

  • Uses native, water-loving plants

  • Adds beauty and biodiversity to your landscape
