Pollinator Pals! is an award-winning, hands-on outdoor workshop for kids and their caregivers! During the session you'll learn all about pollination and honey bees through games, reading a story, getting your hands dirty making wildflower seed balls, dressing up in bee suits & peeking inside a busy beehive!
There is a $10 fee to register (caregivers need not register), as well as a morning (10:00-11:30 AM), and an afternoon (12:30-2:00PM) workshop time.
A few things to know:
- This program is best for kids ages 5-10 with their caregiver(s). If you have a younger child you'd like to bring, please email Ellie to discuss ([email protected]).
- If you have multiple children attending, please register them separately. You do not need to register caregivers.
- This session takes place at the Museum of Ontario Archaeology. Free parking and indoor washrooms are available on-site.
- This is a weather-dependent session with a rain date. Should the forecast call for rain or wind, the session will occur on Saturday July 26th at the same time! Please ensure you are available for both dates as refunds will not be issued if you can't attend the rain date. You will receive an email the afternoon of Thursday July 24th to confirm your session.
- Please come prepared to play in the sunshine and get dirty! It's recommend to wear play clothes, sunscreen and a hat. Don't forget a bottle of water to stay hydrated.
- All participants (caregivers too!) should wear socks and shoes or boots that cover their ankles (rain boots are great!). This helps protect against beestings when you suit up to look inside the hive.
- Because you will be around beehives, please be aware that there's a risk of you or your child getting a beesting. All participants will be safely suited up when the beehives are opened, but it's still possible to receive a sting through the beesuit. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have questions or concerns.
