Project Description:
Glen Cairn Community Resource Centre is launching Food For All, a food upcycling project. They currently receive about 25,000 pounds of food per month that often ends up in the landfill. With this program, they are able to process the donated food that is soon to perish into things such as prepared meals, soups, smoothies, and juices; thus prolonging its shelf life, and in turn further distribute it to those that need it. Local youth and adults will be engaged in processing (up-cycling) the food and other agencies are secured in order to provide education, recruitment of program participants and as food recipients.
