FLIP 2.0 will offer emerging and aspiring changemakers the opportunity to learn more about environmental leadership in politics.

About this event

Last May, our first-ever FLIP Summit (Future Leaders in Politics) engaged aspiring changemakers from across the country in learning more about a pivotal – and sometimes missing – piece between the vision for inclusive, equitable environmental change and change itself: environmental leadership in politics.

In the wake of a federal election and on the verge of provincial elections (Ontario, Quebec) and municipal elections across the country, we are excited to announce FLIP 2.0, taking place online on Saturday, January 22nd, 2022.

Organized by GreenPAC, Canada’s only nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to building environmental leadership in politics, FLIP 2.0 will once again offer emerging and aspiring leaders from all backgrounds the unique opportunity to learn from former and current decision-makers, Parliamentary Interns and expert guests through a variety of fireside chats, workshops, and panel discussions.

From introductory-level sessions to deep-dives into environmental leadership in Canadian politics

Featured guests at last year's FLIP Summit included the Hon. Steven Guilbeault, Dr. Ingrid Waldron, the Hon. Bowinn Ma, former Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, Elizabeth May, the Hon. Michael Chong, MPP Jessica Bell and Senator Rosa Galvez... just to name a few! The FLIP 2.0 line up will be released in early January.

Sessions will be split into two concurrent streams (Advocate and Politico), exploring topics ranging from how decisions get made in politics and unconventional advocacy, to the impact of the electoral system on environmental progress, government accountability and much more. Attendees will have the opportunity to mix and match as desired.

The virtual summit experience

The original FLIP Summit was one of the first events of its kind to utilize Gather, a fun and interactive platform that comes as close as possible to recreating the in-person conference experience. This year, to make the event as accessible as possible for attendees from coast to coast to coast, the entire event will be online again using Gather's virtual conference space.

Early bird tickets are available for $5 until January 1st. Reduced prices for youth/students and groups will be available until the week of the event. GreenPAC offers a limited number of fully subsidized tickets for anyone experiencing financial hardship. Please email [email protected] for more information.
