Despite a decrease in overall vehicle sales due to COVID, the outlook for EVs domestically and globally remains strong. Having access to reliable charging infrastructure at home and work will be critical to supporting this future demand; however, retrofitting parking lots for EV charging after construction can be complex and costly. On the other hand, EV-ready requirements for new construction can save future EV drivers money, and when designed effectively with energy management in mind, can minimize developer costs.

In this webinar, we will review best practices for municipal EV ready requirements for new construction and discuss the potential policy levers municipalities can use to implement such requirements. We will also share cost study data prepared for BC municipalities and discuss how a similar study could support the development of municipal EV-ready requirements in Ontario and the engagement and analysis that would support such as a study.
