Join Nature Canada, Indigenous and faith leaders for a conversation on Nature-based Climate Solutions!

We would like to invite you to this interactive Zoom gathering on Tuesday, November 16 from 6:30-9:00 pm EDT, to build knowledge and capacity for action by faith-based communities on nature-based climate solutions.

There is a growing awareness among scientists, government leaders and society that nature-based climate solutions - actions that protect, restore and better manage lands and waters - are key to stemming climate change, preventing biodiversity collapse, and to building a more just and sustainable world that honours and advances the rights of indigenous people.

Now is a good time for faith-based groups and organizations to share opportunities for action that address climate change and biodiversity loss as interconnected crises.

The goals of this workshop are:

  • To introduce the opportunity of nature-based climate solutions and explore perceptions and experiences of NBCS amongst diverse faith communities;
  • To encourage learning from Indigenous perspectives on nature-based climate solutions;
  • To build knowledge and capacity of participants to engage faith communities in a range of actions to support nature-based climate solutions;
  • To start to develop a network of faith communities interested in contributing to and advancing nature-based climate solutions, locally and with decision makers.

The workshop will include presentations by the Indigenous Leadership Initiative, diverse faith organizations, and Nature Canada. There will be an opportunity to engage in interactive discussion on opportunities and actions that your faith community can take in relation to nature-based climate solutions.
