Do you know someone making a meaningful difference in the local food system?
The Middlesex-London Food Policy Council is now accepting 2026 Food System Champions (individuals, groups, and organizations) across Middlesex County, the City of London, and Indigenous communities in the region who are helping to build a more sustainable, equitable, and connected food system.
Food System Champions can come from anywhere in the food system, including agriculture, food businesses, community organizations, food literacy, advocacy, or informal community leadership. What they share is a commitment to making a positive impact.
Why Food System Champions?
This program, established in 2018, recognizes and celebrates the people and organizations shaping our food system across many sectors. It helps:
Highlight the diversity of food system work in our region
Strengthen connections across sectors and communities
Increase awareness of local food initiatives and knowledge
Elevate and promote the work of Food System Champions within the broader community
We are looking for people, groups and organizations who demonstrate impact in the food system through:
Meaningful contributions to the food system
Advancing equity, inclusion, and community wellbeing
Driving innovation and positive change
Strengthening collaboration and community connections
Anyone working or living in Middlesex County, the City of London, or Indigenous communities in the region who are contributing to the food system in meaningful ways.
