Wednesday August 12, 6-8 pm - Canterbury Park
Keeping the forest in the Forest City takes more than just planting trees alone! Caring for trees during their first few years is essential to the success of a tree planting project. That's why we go back to our planting sites in the summertime to help ensure their survival.
We are now happy to announce that despite the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic has faced us with, we will be hosting several Aftercare events this summer. That means we need your help!
From July 22 to August 6, we are holding 10 Tree Aftercare events on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7-9 pm, plus one Saturday morning from 9-11 am. Instead of our usual drop-in events, we ask that all volunteers register on Eventbrite.
Aftercare Tasks
- Weeding
- Mulching
- Checking Tree Collars
- Invasive Species Removal
- Applying Skoot (deer repellent)
- Pruning
- Litter Clean Up
Safety Precautions
Please do not sign up if you have any COVID-19 symptoms, have traveled recently, or have had close interaction with someone ill with COVID-19.
We are asking volunteers to arrive with their own water, snacks, gloves, sunscreen, and bug spray. Masks are not mandatory, but you are encouraged to bring one and welcome to wear it if you'd like. We will be maintaining proper physical distance.
There is NO drop-in option - you must sign up if you'd like to participate.
If you have questions or concerns please email Brad, Environmental Program Coordinator, at [email protected].
