With 2023 now in full swing, many people are putting their New Year resolutions into action. Whether that be hitting the gym; eating healthier; or tackling that ever-growing 'must-read' book list, a new year marks a fresh chapter. A new year also provides an opportunity to live more sustainably and environmentally conscious. Here are three simple tips for being more environmentally friendly in 2023!

1. Start composting at home

Composting is a great way to live more sustainably and something you can do year-round, rain or shine. Composting is a great way to add nutrients to soil to help nourish fruits, veggies, and other plants. Additionally, by using leftover organic material for your compost, you're reducing your food waste. Different organic materials can be thrown into a compost bin, including fruit peels, potato skins, and egg shells.

2. Change up your hygiene products to low-waste

Many day-to-day hygiene products come in single-use plastic packaging. We're so used to these products that if we take the time to count how many use single-use plastics, the number is often shocking. Products like soap and shampoo bars are more environmentally friendly than their alternatives.

3. Unplug your home devices to reduce energy usage

Did you know that even if you don't have your devices plugged into a charger, the chargers plugged into outlets still use energy? Additionally, leaving your devices plugged into chargers after being fully charged also wastes energy and is bad for your devices' batteries. In 2023, consider investing in energy-efficient outlets and plugs that reduce the electricity used.
