This summer edition of Green Drinks will be taking place on Friday July 27, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm, at BackRoads Brews + Shoes Taproom. This Green Drinks will also feature a tour of the West 5 Discovery Centre.
About the Venue:
Co-owners Emily & Aaron run a specialized shoe store for running, walking, and hiking and a taproom featuring local craft beer, wine, kombucha, cider, and coffee: collectively known as BackRoads Brews & Shoes Taproom.
About the Tour:
West5 is a sustainable living centre in London, including townhomes, office & retail spaces, and retirement living. This vibrant community features solar panels, solar street lights and green infrastructure. The West 5 Discovery Centre is an interactive presentation space designed to educate and entertain visitors, and introduce them to Ontario’s first neighbourhood powered by the sun.
Evening Schedule:
6-7pm
- Arrive at BackRoads
- Groups of 10-15 will depart for a 20 minute tour of the West 5 Discovery Centre
- Tours end at 7pm
7-8pm
- Wrap up tours and return to BackRoads. Continue networking and mixing!
- Door & raffle prize draw at 8pm
- BackRoads remains open until 9pm, so attendees may stay longer than 8pm if they wish
Door Prize & Raffle:
Because we like to give you the chance to win free (local, green, and fun) stuff, we will be doing a door prize & raffle again! Each ticket purchase will automatically enter your name into a draw for a chance to win 1 of 3 amazing door prizes. And because we love active transportation SO much, we are giving an additional door prize ticket to all attendees that have cycled to the venue. Our raffle prizes are kindly donated by businesses that are local, sustainable, and environmentally-conscious, and tickets for those will be on sale during the event (cash only).

- 2 x $15 Gift Vouchers to Reimagine Co. (Zero Waste Forest City's community hub & demonstration space).
Raffle Prizes:

Raffle tickets are 1 for $3, 2 for $5, and 5 for $10 (cash only)
Getting There:
Like every Green Drinks, we encourage attendees to use active transportation.
Bike Routes: Following the Terry Fox Bike Path, this is a 35 minute bike ride from Ivey Park, Downtown London. So ask a couple friends, plan your route, and take a group bike ride to July Green Drinks! Reward yourselves with a local craft beer at BackRoads as soon as you walk in (please drink responsibly)! We have added 2 Free Community Cycling Rides to the venue, led by two of our LEN member cycling groups. Please add the free ticket (with your preferred start time) to your Eventbrite order to let us know you are riding with us!
Leaving from Ivey Park:
- @ 5pm with CAN-Bike London (follow TVP path, arrive at Backroads ~ 5:45pm)
- @ 6pm with London Cycle Link (follow TVP path, arrive at Backroads ~ 6:45pm)
Bus Routes: Bus Route #17A Oxford has multiple stops along Commissioners Rd W, near the Kains Woods/Oxford St.W/Commissioners Rd W intersection. Route #17B, operating weekdays until 6pm, has stops on Kains & Oxford (NB and SB). For more information and to plan your route, click here.
