For the first time ever, we are running a contest throughout the duration of the Green in the City series (October 19th to November 26th)! Help us spread the word about environmental actions that help to make London a greener city for a chance to win some awesome prizes!

How to Enter: Post a photo or video on social media* of you doing an environmental action with the hashtag #whatmakesagreencity by November 26th.

Each post counts as one entry. There is a maximum of 6 posts per person. All entries will be included in a random prize draw the week of November 29th. A total of 15 prize winners will be selected and winners will be contacted via email.

Additionally, the top three most creative entries will be reposted on our social media pages (with the winners' permission) at the end of the series!

  • Shop from vendors at your local farmer's market
  • Plan your vegetable garden for next season
  • Rethink, reduce, reuse, and recycle your products
  • Reduce your food waste by meal prepping, freezing, or using up leftovers
  • Join your local neighbourhood Buy Nothing Group 
  • Fixing items or buying refurbished products instead of new ones
  • Participate in a river cleanup
  • Monitor and reduce your water usage at home
  • Upgrading your light systems to LED light bulbs
  • Switch to renewable or more energy efficient appliances
  • Attend a climate strike
