Root Awakening
Born with a neurological disease, Faye Simmons is a wheelchair user who depends on daily help from support workers. But outside of her home, Faye is an avid gardener, a lover of the outdoors, and a community leader. As someone who understands the need for belonging and the value of mutual compassion and helping others, Faye’s love of growing food leads her to co-found The PATCH, a local organization dedicated to food security for vulnerable communities within the city.
In a series of conversations with Faye and her team, as well as community leaders from across London, Root Awakening shines light on intersectionality, accessibility to all, community building, and all of the small things that we can do to make a huge difference. From the opening of the spring season to the harvest festival closing, Root Awakening takes us on a journey of a year of joy, and sharing the simplest of pleasures with an equitable mindset.
