The London Food Coalition is a grassroots network of community organizations working together to transform how food is shared, valued, and experienced. They collect surplus, high-quality food from farms, suppliers, and retailers across London. Then they redistribute that food to frontline organizations—meal programs, shelters, community centres, Indigenous organizations, and more—who turn it into nourishment for thousands.
Volunteering with the London Food Coalition is more than a way to give back—it’s a chance to be part of a community-led movement grounded in dignity, care, and shared abundance. Every hour you contribute helps ensure that fresh, high-quality food is collected, sorted, and shared across the city—supporting the people and programs that nourish Londoners every day. Volunteers are a vital part of the coalition's daily rhythm, helping move thousands of pounds of food each week to shelters, community centres, school programs, and outreach organizations across London.
As a Coalition Assistant, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of their food rescue and distribution efforts. You'll assist with sorting rescued food, performing quality control, and helping their member agencies when they arrive to pick up their food donations. You'll be a part of a dedicated team working to create food prosperity across London.
