In 2023, our local Wilton Grove Public School hosted a Depave Paradise event: a transformative initiative that turned a lifeless, paved area into a vibrant outdoor classroom. This event removed 200 square meters of unused pavement and planted 300 native plants including grasses, sedges, bushes, and pollinator flowers.
Depave Install Day! From soil delivery and spreading, to installing plants and covering with mulch!
This was a collaborative effort that brought together the London Environmental Network, educational workers, and student volunteers, all sharing a common vision of creating a beautiful outdoor learning space. This space facilitates a hands-on approach to education to create profound connection to nature, nurturing young minds to become responsible stewards of the environment. Today, this outdoor classroom is surrounded by a thriving pollinator garden.
