Let’s celebrate our City of Neighbours!

City of Neighbours Day is a People-Powered Festival: community activities all across London, all on one day, led by all kinds of people. It’s taking place on Saturday, July 13, 2019.

You could host a potluck or a picnic on your front lawn, do some chalk art in the local park, organise a neighbourhood walk, decorate a bench or bus stop, dance, play music, play sports, just play... The only limit is your creativity and imagination!

In 2017 and 2018, London joined cities across Canada and around the world in taking part in “100 in 1 Day”. This year, although there is no event taking place nationally, Londoners are celebrating our very own “City of Neighbours Day” on Saturday, July 13.

“City of Neighbours Day” is a partnership between the Urban League of London and Reimagine Co, who are excited to collaborate on this project to celebrate our city of neighbours. This year is the 50th birthday of the Urban League, and we hope to have at least 50 community activities on that one day!

The Urban League has been a pillar of the community for 5 decades, operating as an umbrella group to community and neighbourhood associations, building capacity and facilitating connections for neighbours and members across London.

Reimagine Co, founded in 2018, is a community hub located in the old Novack’s building on King Street. Its mission is to help Londoners to live more sustainable and connected lives, through workshops, demonstrations, experiments and shared learning.

Anyone can take part in City of Neighbours Day! It’s about taking any kind of activity that makes our city better: something that improves your local environment and helps you to connect with your neighbours. We believe that lots of small actions can add up to a really big change. No action is too small!

It’s easy to take part!

Simply decide what you're doing, when and where. Then you’ll be able to register your activity on the City of Neighbours Day website, and invite others to join you. Or you can just show up on July 13th and take part in one of the community activities!

We need volunteers! If you want to be a part of this but you don't feel that you want to lead an activity, there are lots of other ways that you can help! Please let us know if you have any materials, resources or talents you can offer.

We need volunteers to help with publicity and social media, events, planning, admin, and volunteers to help on the day itself. Please send us a message if you're interested and would like to find out more!
