About Us

Food Not Lawns London Canada (FNL) is a collective of gardeners committed to ecological stewardship, through cultivating our relationship to the earth and to each other. We are enthusiastic about creating integrated solutions to heal a broken food system. We advocate for food sovereignty because we believe that our communities have the right to participate in and define our own food systems.

Values

Respect: We stand for the dignity and rights of all persons, across all communities, by supporting a diversity of gardening and food growing interests.

Education: We commit to creating positive social interactions through workshops and community events. We cultivate the sharing of knowledge and interest in growing food, respectfully redefining health, wealth, and beauty.

Cooperation: We support cooperation between FNL and like-minded organizations to increase community awareness about growing food. We encourage and foster relationships with a focus on environmental stewardship and ecological awareness.

Nature: We cultivate respect for nature and the intricate systems that result in Earth’s biodiversity. We support this abundance through responsible and varied gardening practices. We individually recognize our connection to the soil, water, air, and other creatures.

Responsibility: We act on the earth in an ecologically responsible manner, promoting the ongoing restoration, proliferation, and overall health of our micro and macro environments. We act as stewards of the Earth, positively impacting our selves, our communities, and our future generations through the growing of food.
